Casey had always been curious about where the
bathtub drain led. Her sister told her that if you got too close while having a
bath, that you would get sucked down. What a silly idea; everybody knows that
you can’t get sucked down the drain! But, Casey was always wondering if it
really could happen. She had never been brave enough to try, until one day when she was walking by the bathroom, Casey decided to go in and explore.
She pulled her long brown hair into a
ponytail and leaned over to examine the drain. She decided to fill the tub with
water when she heard a squeak coming from the drain.
“That sounds like a duck,” she laughed.
She carefully pulled the plug and watched curiously as the water got lower
and lower. All of a sudden it began to swirl around and she started to spin in a
circle! She screamed as the bottom of the tub opened up like a big black hole.
She slid down a huge slide, twisting and turning all the way down.
She landed with a plop at the bottom,
falling on soft, bright coloured mattresses. She looked around, staring at all
the bright colours and unusual shapes. She wasn’t scared; it was all too
exciting. She stood up and carefully walked around the room, listening for the
sound of the duck that she heard in the bathtub. She heard it again; it was
coming from the bright orange door in the corner of the room.
“Now how can a door fit in a corner?” She scratched her head, but turned
the doorknob and opened the door anyway. On the other side of the door was a
very narrow hallway, not even big enough for her to walk through. She got down
on her hands and knees and crawled down the hallway, following the sound of the
duck.
The long hall had many twists and turns
and Casey was getting tired of crawling. She finally came to the end and just
had to shake her head as she noticed that there was no door, but a dog door! She
crawled through and stood up, stretching her arms and legs. Her mouthed dropped
open as she looked around the room.
“It’s just like my dream,” she whispered to herself.
The room was sparkling pink with
pictures of ballerinas all over the wall. There were dozens of ballet slippers
in the corner, just waiting to be put on and danced in. Casey ran over and found
a pair that fit and started to dance. She had always dreamed of being a ballet
dancer. Music started to play as she twirled around the room, a big smile on her
face. She danced until she was so dizzy that she fell down. After she had rested
for a few minutes, she was curious to see what was in the next room. She jumped
up and looked around for a door, but found nothing.
“Oh no,” she cried, thinking that she was stuck.
She started pushing on the walls hoping to find a door. She finally
spotted a big silver button and decided to push it. A siren started to go off
and she quickly put her hands over her ears. She looked up as the ceiling
disappeared and an elevator dropped down to the floor in front of her. The doors
slid open and she stepped inside, a worried look on her face. She wasn’t sure if
it was a good idea or not, but it seemed to be the only way out.
The elevator flew up and went soaring
through the sky. It flew past all the stars and planets and finally landed on
what looked to be the moon, but it smelled like cheese.
Casey pushed the doors open and stepped
out. She bent down to smell, it was definately cheese. She tore off a piece and
popped it into her mouth. It tasted pretty good!
She looked around, but there was nothing to see. Now she was starting to get a
little nervous, she wondered how she was going to get home.
“Maybe this was a bad idea,” she sighed.
Just then, a bright light came on in front of her and she heard the duck again.
She ran towards it and almost tripped over the tiny duck.
“Hey! What are you doing here?” she bent down and petted him.
He quacked and started running towards the light. She followed him,
running as fast as she could to keep up.
He stopped at a bright yellow door with big purple daisy’s all over it. He
banged his beak against the door twice and the door lifted up.
Casey cautiously stepped inside and
started jumping up and down with excitement. The walls were covered with
chocolate and the floor was made of lollipops. She ran towards the wall, but
slid all the way there! She took a big bite and licked her lips, it was so
yummy. Then she bent down and started to lick the floor, it tasted like cherries
and watermelons! She loved it so much that she kept licking and licking until
the floor disappeared and she fell through. She fell down, down, down and
finally landed with a bounce. She had landed on a big, gooey marshmallow. She
laughed and laid back, inhaling the sweet smell of vanilla. Her mouth watered
and she took a giant bite, it was delicious!
But, her belly started to hurt because she ate so much candy. She stood up
and moaned, but walked around the room. There were doors everywhere, all
different colours and sizes. She didn’t know which door to pick, so she started
opening them all. One door had a black hallway that looked too scary, so she
quickly shut it and ran to the next. It was a forest, full of bright green trees
and dark brown branches. She decided to follow the path through the doors. She
followed the trail, which curved and went on for a very long time. She was
getting too tired to keep going, so she sat down beside a tree. But, as she
leaned back, the tree opened and she fell down another big black hole.
Casey landed with a big splash, right
into her bathtub!
She jumped up, coughing and sputtering from the water in her face.
“Whoa, that was so cool!” She grabbed a towel and ran down the hall to
tell her sister, she told her all about what happened, but, of course her sister
didn’t believe a word she said.
“That never happened, Casey, you’re lying!”
“I am not,” Casey turned around and stomped all the way to her room. She
smiled, remembering all the fun she had. She fell asleep and woke up the next
morning with a very good idea. She jumped out of bed and ran as fast as she
could into the bathroom. She filled the tub full of water and hopped in. She
couldn’t wait to see what kind of adventures would happen down her drain today.
